LAPSE OF POLICY WITHOUT NOTIFICATION -UNHAPPY

My brother Sylvester Moodley (ID Number: 8612285166082) has a funeral cover with FNB (Policy Number: FM00000376107) that was taken out in 2010. He is a disabled child that is unable to do anything for himself. The day in which we opened a bank account for him is the day that the policy was taken out and my mum was made the beneficiary, upon doing a follow up on his account, as when we tried depositing money into his bank account a message popped up saying that the account has been closed, I tried querying on his behalf but got no assistance at all. On the 2nd of Jan 2014 we had taken him into the FNB branch to get assistance, the gentleman (Stallone) that assisted us called into the call centre to clarity on whether the policy could be reinstated if cancelled and also if debit details could be changed. The guy on the other end of the line (Nkosana) then advised that a letter needs to be done and sent to him so that it can be actioned, whilst at the branch we got the letter done and sent through, upon doing a follow up I was then advised that the policy has lapsed. This is highly frustrating especially when no such notification was sent informing that the policy is going to lapse.
