REINSTATEMENT OF MY LIFE INSURANCE POLICY

In December 2012 I asked Altrisk not to debit me because I was moving jobs and would call them in the new year to reinstate policy in the new year and pay up any premiums outstanding. I was not informed that after 6 months my policy would lapse and not be reinstated and I'd lose my money paid for over 5 years, this is over R9000!!! In April I called Altrisk and was told to pay R331 and complete a declaration and send back which I did April/May 2013 and my policy was still not reinstated. After further follow up I was told of the 6 months but said that cant apply to me as I had done all the necessary within 4/5 months prior to their 6 month rule. The value of the policy is R1500000 and I cannot allow to just let it lapse after so many payments and start again elsewhere after I did what I needed to in the time required by them. Somewhere within the organization someone dropped the ball and I wonder how many people get their policies lapsed in this way by Insurers after doing the necessary. No record of advise was ever provided to me and then last week the premium of R331 was credited to me and no one called to explain what the way forward would be! Unacceptable! Unhappy policyholder!
