When I opened a cheque account with Standard bank the consultant (who was slow and looked uninterested in his job) suggested that i open a funeral cover, which i did i included my mother, sister and younger brother then i was to be the policy holder. A few months later when i wanted to close my cheque account i could not as i was told that had a debit order on that account (the funeral policy) when i asked them to please redirect it to my FNB account i was told that i do not have signing powers on that account and also that i'm not covered in the policy (my ID number doesnt even reflect under that policy) i was told to ask my mother to write a letter to cancel the policy, now as a result of not being able to close that cheque account I am told that I am owing R1, 300 bank charges. now my question is should i be paying this as a result of some incompetent consultants bad service.
