My cheque card would intermittently and at random get declined by various PoS. I found this weird because I was sure I had money in my account. I was always able to withdraw funds directly after which confirmed this.
I go to the bank to and the consultant (no idea what her name is as she didn't offer it and had no name tag) explains that there was a problem between my cheque account and secondary account as no default Point of Sale account was defined so the vendors would at times default to my second account and decline the payment if the funds weren't available. The fun part is that I've been charged R5.00 each time this happens but Standard Bank does not, of course, offer to refund the fee for what is clearly a system error. The accounts were relinked and the error should not appear again.
On the same day I requested that my EAP limit be increased. Previous attempts to send a secure message via internet banking were simply ignored or lost and my details were old so security questions failed when I called. It was apparently NOT temporarily updated as promised by the consultant and I am left with a bad taste over the entire experience. My time and money is being wasted.
