After making an offer on a property, I went to the ABSA Menlyn branch to start the application process for a bond. I didn't even consider any other bank since I've been with ABSA since Trust Bank days! During the 2 weeks that followed, I was requested some new documentation every second day. It was extremely frustrating and felt that ABSA sees me as a courier who's main function was to supply then with new documentation every second day! Then I met with Magda Viljoen, bond originator at Better Bond, who has within 3 working days got me bond approvals from both Standard Bank and FNB. These approvals happened with half the documentation required by ABSA! FNB gave me a very good interest rate and I've decided to make use of their offer. Perhaps it is time to also move all my other banking business away from ABSA since they obviously don't need my business.
