Not succeeding in opening an account for my son 13

Today I went to the Absa bank with: My ID; my sons certified birth certificate that was certified this morning at the local Police station; R100 and proof of residents w/lights bill (Current). After waiting my turn I produced it to the lady. She said that she needs the 'original' birth certificate because of bank rules. I asked her what is the reason for certifying documents at the police station in the first place then and why must I produce a proof of residents if I have got my ID and I am a valued customer of the bank AND ALL MY DETAILS ARE ON THE COMPUTER SCREEN INFRONT OF HER!!? She said that this was the rules, she also was more interested in going on lunch than helping us. THE WAY I SEE IT, ... I a valid customer and the police are not trusted by the lady and the bank rules, so this is either a question of her being not in the mood for doing her job or bank rules that are not in line with the norm of outside life. I did explained to her that the original birth certificate are at my house and I had it certified for the reason of not carrying the original on us. Well the account was not opened yet she left with an attitude for lunch. I was very polite all the time. go figure
