I applied for vehicle finance through VW Strijdom Park on Monday, thinking that my bank (FNB/Wesbank) would come through for me seeing as though I have a cheque account, credit card and my bond with them. To my surprise they came back with a higher interest rate 12.5% and still wanted a deposit of R3000 - really you want a deposit that equals 1 months installments? ABSA and MFC came back with a lower interest rate 11.5% and did not request a deposit for the finance - best or worst part is that I dont have any association with these financial institutions and they offered me better rates. I even called Wesbank myself and asked the consultant - Cagney - if there is a way to assist me as I would prefer getting the finance through Wesbank as I have everything with FNB already - the best he can offer is to match the interest rate of ABSA and MFC but I still need to pay a R2500 deposit. I was completely shocked that a financial institution that I praise and speak so highly of cannot assist me with my request for vehicle finance - I was really expecting more seems like I will just have to make a choice between ABSA or MFC
