I recently signed an offer to purchase a brand new vehicle. The finance consultant at the dealership advised me that she would phone the relevant banks to enquire what interest rate they were prepared to offer me.
Absa offered a rate of 9% and Wesbank (a division of FNB) offered a rate of 11%.
Being an FNB Premier client, I called FNB Premier Banking & spoke to Refiloe, I advised her that Absa's rate was far better than FNB and that FNB should at least better the rate based on my account. Refiloe has been trying to assist me with no joy from the relevant vehicle finance department. Even after Refiloe spoke to FNB vehicle finance advising them that I am a premier customer they seem to be unwilling to better the rate and there seems to be one excuse after another.
As far as I can see, FNB Vehicle Finance are hoping I'll take Absa's rate and "Go Away". Well, that's not going to happen, as if I do go, it will be with all my bank accounts and all other linked accounts in tow.
If Absa is prepared to give me a better rate than my own bank (FNB), I should be banking with Absa!
I'm really disgusted at FNB's nonchalant attitude. Perhaps it's time for me take my money where I matter too.
