Last week Monday, 23 December 2013, a cheque from a random person for R6500 was deposited into my cheque account.

This increased my Balance by R6500, but NOT my Available Balance because cheques only clear in 7 days.

This cheque was subsequently reversed by whomever deposited it on the 24 December 2013.

This reversal reduced my balance AND available balance by R6500.

So the problem: there is an incorrect reversal in my available balance without the corresponding incorrect cheque deposit leaving me R6500 short. This has drawn charges to my account that I otherwise wouldn't have had.

I have contacted FNBs call centre and they refuse to rectify this saying I have to go into the branch. I am currently away on holiday and I need that money. But FNB refuses to help even though I had nothing to do with ANY part of this transaction. The money in my account belongs to ME AND NOT FNB.

"How can we help you? " should change to "We can't help you, and we'll try to make things as difficult for you as possible."

Pathetic bank. Cannot wait to get back to Cape Town to close this account. They are truly, really unhelpful and incompetent.
