Absa - Not what they used to be!!!

On Saturday the 21st of December our stokvel needed to urgently transfer one member's proceedings on the day which was urgently needed for a car deposit and needed to be deposited on the day otherwise the deal would be off. We went to the Pinetown branch of Absa in good time to ensure that the correct cellphone number was inserted in the account to enable Ella Mthethwa to insert a new beneficiary, however this was not possible once we had left the bank. The correction of the cellphone was necessary to receive the unique TVN number. We then returned to the bank to inform them that our request had not been implemented even though we had asked the teller to double check that this was done!..ie asked if she was sure that this was done... to which she answered in the positive. What was quite upsetting was the treatment received from Wendy Govender upon returning to the branch to have the mistake corrected just as the doors closed. She just directed us to another branch even though we had given an account of the sense of urgency and the fact that it was their mistake. My first account was with Absa bank and they are really no longer the bank that I used to bank with- they do not care.
