Why Absa is losing clients

On my way to ABSA bank (branch Clearwater) to close my account, I was met by a state of the art shop with big screens and fancy couches. On entering this fabulous branch I was asked what my query related to and given a service slip with a designated number. After waiting for an hour for my number to be announced, no luck. I asked the assistant to please confirm whether my number has been called out but it wasn't. After another 20minutes of waiting, I asked to be assisted. Once at the teller I had to repeat my instruction twice as I was obviously not taken seriously the first time. All I wanted to do was to transfer funds from one ABSA account to a Nedbank account and have the Absa account closed. The assistant informed me that she cannot transfer the funds and close the account in one go. I instructed her to then just do the wire transfer. Two and half days later, still no funds after specifically confirming that the funds will be showing after one day. I dread to think how long it will take to close this account eventually. This is shocking service and no wonder people are moving away from ABSA. Tip to ABSA: Loose the fancy furniture and pay attention to your service.
