I have been banking with Absa for years now. All was well until my account was suddenly blocked on Saturday, the 14th December. I was at the petrol station, and my card got declined when I swiped. I went to the ATM, but could not withdraw money.
I went to Absa on Monday and got informed that my account was blocked and that I had to bring a proof of residence. Unfortunately all communications to me are via my postal address. I was told I could use my husband's proof, when I brought one in I was sent from pillar to post. My husband is working, and therefore cannot come with me to the bank.
I still do not have access to my money to this day, and am extremely unhappy.
