AIG Life South Africa
Rejected Claim

On the 23 February 2013 while attending a floral arranging course at Lifestyle College in Randburg, I slipped & fell on an uneven tile. The college management had called for an ambulance & I was taken to Olivedale Hospital casualty. My xrays indicated I had a spiral fracture to my right ankle (tib and fib) and broke the bone. I was referred to an orthopaedic surgeon for admission & surgery. I am being treated by my orthopaedic surgeon and having physiotherapy. I was informed by the secretary of Life Style College on the day of my injury that they have third party insurance cover & they will pay for the ambulance to the hospital and I must submit all my medical bills. I submitted my bills to AIG Insurance; I was not given any forms to fill in regarding the details of the injury or a claim form. After a few months I received an email to say my claim was rejected. I contacted Life Style College to find out why my claim was rejected and was referred to AIG insurance. My medical aid is exhausted for the year & I have to pay for ongoing treatment using my own funds. AIG Insurance has been contacted 3 times regarding my rejected claim but still haven't received any feedback to date.
