I was honestly not aware that I can submit a claim directly after surgery but still only pay the surgeon at a later stage, and that then I can still claim the monies owed to me.

I could not afford to pay the surgeon within 4 months and therefore only paid him after 5 months, I then submitted the claim and it was not paid because it is classified as a stale claim. Had I known that I had to submit it within 4 months I would have gladly done so. (even though I could only afford to pay the surgeon at a later stage)

In my view this is pathetic and is a money making scheme!!! How many millions does Discovery save by classifying claims older than 4 months as stale??? However their customers ie Discovery Medical Aid Policy holders still needs to settle their debt with the respective Surgeon/Doctor etc etc.

I am now R 3500 worse off than before and Discovery has now saved R3500!!!

It seems that the Surgeon and Discovery are the only two benefiting from my Medical Aid..

Both me and my wife will be cancelling our medical aid schemes with Discovery as well as our Life Insurance Policies.
