On 25/1/13 I wanted to withdraw money at ATM, Kroomboom Centre (outside Tashriqa's coffeeshop). There was a gentleman ahead of me who I assumed was also doing his financial transactions. He proceeded to finalise his transactions (ie he had cash, bank card and an A4 paper in his hand) and I moved to the ATM.. Upon approaching the ATM I noticed that the machine screen was not as it should be. I hesitated and turned around and this gentleman advised me that the machine was indeed working and pushed a button on the keypad. I was still hesitate and he reassured me that the ATM is working - quite insistent actually. I inserted my card and waited for the gentleman to leave before inserting my PIN number. I then inserted my PIN number and the screen froze so I had to option to cancel, etc my transaction. I left the ATM with my card stuck in the machine. When I got to my mother-in-law I phoned FNB to cancel my card. I then received a sms stating that R3000.00 was withdrawn. I personally went FNB the same day only to complete the affidavit. FNB then advised me that it would not be refunded. I find this unacceptable and will proceed to Ombudsman should my money not be refunded immediately
