I bought the scratch and dents cover with the car Nov 2012. never received policy documents till i submitted a claim last week. my car was in an accident, now with panel beaters but when they towed the car i inspected it to ensure it doesn't come back with more damages than it left with. i then notices a few dents and scratches. since the car will be at approved panel beaters i also claimed from Smart to attend to those while the insurance repairs accidental damage.
a week later the claim is rejected because i am supposed to claim every time i have a scratch that costs less than R3000 to repair, and book car in every single time. this is ridiculous. the inconvenience makes it impractical to claim from this cover thus they end up not having any claims to pay. I cant believe that how they makes their money, it makes sense to attend to all of them simultaneously even if it means treating each as a separate claim, which was my understanding in the absence of policy documents.
i will be taking this up with the ombuds even though i have cancelled this rip off cover!
