I have had several debit orders on my savings account over the last three months.
When I complained about them they were reversed. one of the bank's employees stated that she herself had suffered from this problem. The bank was investigating.
This is still happening because these people are using the new tracking system and changing the amounts debited. The bank says they cannot stop it.
It appears that the bank is accepting the authority of these people without having site of a signed debit order from me. Because of the tracking system they are able to withdraw money from my account as soon as the balance is sufficient.
It would appear that they are not going to do anything to assist me, a long term client, and I will have to suffer the inconvenience of closing this account! Who is to say that this situation will not repeat itself? How many people are being defrauded in this way? Why is it that ABSA are unwilling or unable to put a stop to this?
