My husband passed away 1 September 2012. To date the retirement annuity seeded to me has not been paid out (I was told it would be paid in 2 weeks). There have been numerous obstacles, which Old Mutual seem happy to accept without trying to solve the problem. They submit incorrect info to SARS, they take their time with meetings that the "trustees" need to attend to, they do not return calls, do not follow up on anything. The customer service has been shocking to say the least. I am 72 years old, and have been under tremendous stress with the financial burden, close to a nervous breakdown. Not one cent has been paid out in almost 15 months. My husband paid religiously every month, pity the same principles to not apply to Old Mutual
