You lost a really keen customer

I have recently be really let down by Absa and decided to turn my bank on the Big 4 and give Capitec a go. I loved the way this company seemed to be doing business and like to support the little (but growing) guy!

Sadly the sentiment and expectation was not even close to the experience.

I am a business owner wanting to open 3 accounts, two personal and one joint. I was told with a very sour face that joints were not possible. I then said okay I would like to open 2 individual ones. But was told that my French partner (who has all the legitimate documentation to live and work in this country) was told she could not have an account. Thats it. Nothing more.

There was no hint of an attempt to help, to find an alternative solution, to empathise, to care whatsoever. We both walked out feeling really annoyed at this approach.

I then went to another of the Big 4 (reluctantly) and opened all three counts on the spot.

Capitec lost my business, my partners business, and sadly when I tell this story, maybe a few others. A shame because I walked in with such high hopes of trying out a new style of banking.

A pity.
