Why my Credit card is not closed!!!

On the 17/10 I called ABSA cr card to request to close my cr card acc & I was advised there is a settlement amount of R82, 54 in order for the acc to be closed. The consultant also asked if it was EFT & I told him it was EFT & he calculated the eft including the days the EFT will take to clear. On the 21st I then called to check if the bal was now 0, and I was advised it was & I asked for the cr card to be closed. The consultant then advised me he will close the acc. Today 5/11 I then checked if this was done and it wasnt and I now owe more charges on this acc. I called to find out what happend and I was told it cant be closed due to my internet banking profile being active, why was I not informed of this in October?? So the lady told me to call internet banking and ask them to close it and they told me they can only suspend it and I will have to go to an ABSA branch!!! Now i have just had a ceasar and going to a branch is not possible for me at this stage and each day this cr card is not closed there are charges being charged on it. I refuse to be made liable for these charges as it was the incompetence of your employees that didnt inform me that resulted in this.
