Unable to apply for home loan

I am not currently a Nedbank customer, but a couple of months ago I had to pick up my company credit card in a branch. The person that helped me asked if I was a customer in my personal capacity and then tried to convince me to switch. Which is great - obviously everybody has to do their bit to gain customers. At the time there was no compelling reason to switch however.

6 months later I need to apply for a home loan. Getting a good rate on a home loan is in my view a compelling reason to switch.

But my bond originator just let me know that it is now Nedbank policy to not even accept applications from people who are not currently clients. Whats that all about? How ridiculous is that the people on the ground is doing their absolute best to gain Nedbank new clients but when there is an actual opportunity you send potential new clients away?

I can't tell you to run your business, but I can get feedback that attitude like this is not bound to get you new customers.
