I closed my Standard Bank account in April 2013. I went into the Vereeniging branch, signed some forms, got a cheque for the balance in my account (because they can't transfer funds from one bank to another) and handed in my card. After that I still got SMSs and statements showing that I my account is overdrawn and the monthly fee is still being deducted. So I phoned again and the lady told my that the wrong cell number has been linked to my card, and that my account is closed. However I still get statements, and now a voice message saying that my account is overdrawn. Calling the call centre simply does not help. You get transferred to 3 different people and no one can give me an answer. I am NOT going to call again and I am NOT going to go to the bank again. I am not going to waste my time and money because of their incompetence!
