The bank cannot account for my salary deposit

I had a Cheque account with Nedbank and my account was overdrawn. I was phoned to visit the branch and I went there to understand the reason why. Upon my arrival the bank consultant took my cheque book and torn it apart and also destroyed my debit and garage cards and I was told that my account has been closed. On the 18th of February 2006 my salary was deposited and there is no mention of what happened to the money and as I had no card, I had no way of accessing my money. I then moved on to open an account with other bank seeing that Nedbank closed my account. I was surprised a few months later Nedbank sending letter of demand saying I owe them money and when I went back to the bank to get statements I did not get any joy. I only received statements on 31 October 2012 from their archives and still still they cannot explain what happened to the money that was paid in on February 2006. What really annoys me is that they got a judgement against me which I feel is unfair because they could have taken the money that they had in my account to pay for outstanding fees. It is either they refund me or use that money to pay what they claim I owe them.
