On Saturday 6 April I went in to Standard Bank Vereeniging to close my account. I signed the form and received a bank cheque for the amount in the cheque account, and watched as the lady snipped up my debit and credit cards. I thought that was it. Last week I received a SMS stating that my account was inactive and that I should make a deposit or call the number provided to close my account. When I called the number, it was for personal and business loans. After calling another number, I was told I had to go in to the branch to close my account - which I already did, in April. The lady I spoke to, was very helpful and tried to get a hold of somebody in the Vereeniging branch to sort this out. According to her, the Vereening branch should call me back, but they never did. I just want this account to be closed once and for all - and I'm not going in to the branch as I did that already.
