ABSA FICA Debacle

A few months ago I received an email from a lady called Thato telling me my business account is going into FICA lockdown in three days. This apparently was as a result of ABSA needing my FICA documentation. I told Thato that three days is a bit short notice and asked her why I wasn't given more notice, to which she had no reply.

I also told her I was out of town and couldn't do this in the time frame required. They locked my account anyway. After one of a mission I finally made it to ABSA Fourways and submitted the documentation to her. ABSA mercifully opened my account again and I had access to (my) funds.

Today, two months later, I tried to do a transfer for a client (urgent) and low and behold - my account is in FICA lockdown again. This time without the courtesy of an email or a phone call. Just locked. It has taken me the entire day to reach someone at ABSA Fourways and all they can say is they don't have the documents.

How precious. They don't have the documents, after I submitted it, and conveniently they just lock my account, without any notice. The bank is about to close and this debacle is still not resolved.

ABSA, you have outdone yourselves yet again.
