I had a credit card with FNB many years back which defaulted and was closed. Not much activity happened with that credit card for many years and meanwhile accumulated high interest. Then this year I received a call from a law firm claiming they are assigned by FNB to make a payment arrangement towards the credit card. We agreed on a certain amount and before I could even pay it FNB electonically debited from my account an amount of R300. The firm called claiming they haven't received any payment and I explained what happened and they also had no idea of the debit. Three months passed without any call, letter or any form of communication. Then last month FNB debited an amount of R1400 from my acount. I just don't know what is actually happening. For the mere fact that my salary is being paid into my FNB account does not mean they can just debit whatever amount without even talking to me or explaining their actions. I feel so frustrated and for the first time after 17 years I'm ready to switch banks.
