FNB made me close my account for nothing!

Last week I open a cheque account while explaining the teller rep that I also have 50, 000 I'd like to invest
- I ask about getting credit card, which he says I can apply as soon as my 1st salary is paid into account
- salary is paid into account few days later
- I go back to pick up debit card & ask for VISA/Credit Card
- rep tells me I cant apply for credit card because I dont have a credit record. I tell him I've had my ABSA credit card for years if they want to check. He says I need a retail credit card, otherwise no credit card for me.
- PLEASE NOTE: I did say to the rep that I dont work on credit & I need the card only for paying flights online
- He says there are no other options but for me to close my account & continue banking with ABSA
- I close my account & feel sorry I have to go back to ABSA

..Few days later: I realise that the FNB debit card can be used as credit card for payments online!!! The FNB rep did not explain this to me and made me close the account!! So much time wasted with a rep that has no idea about clients' needs! He turned away me and my investment! CAN YOU BELIEVE!
