First National Bank
"Switch in under 10 min" is a misrepresentation

My partner's cellphone recently broke and I saw FNB were offering a nice deal on the Samsung S4 Mini to new clients. I'm a Nedbank Private Banking client and for some time I've been considering switching to FNB for the online investment options, ebucks and lower costs.

What a mission. Tried applying online - I got to a confusing point (and I'm a senior software engineer!) where it seems as a non-client I will need to ask for a call back. I tried the call centre directly because I had meetings all day - but the staff didn't know what I'm asking about. Handed from one dept to another. I tried the "DEAL" SMS option too. Eventually told I must go into a branch.

I go into a branch. I'm offered a platinum account. (As far as I can tell I should have been offered a private banking account based on my income - at the very least the sales consultant seems oblivious to my value as a customer.)

She says I must open an account then wait for at least one salary payment and 2 debit orders to go through before I can get the smartphone promotion. That'll be in 2 weeks. Promotion will be long expired by then, and also my partner must live without a phone for 2 more weeks? This makes no sense
