Customer Assist Back log

My wife contacted customer assist almost 2 months ago on our behalf to apply for consolidation using our home loan, in the beginning they said that they are experiencing a back log with applications, and that it could take up to a month before an agent picks up our application. The home loan is debited from my account, so i called in after a month to find out how far the application is, I got the same response to say that they are experiencing a back log and that the Manager is going to get back to us after the agent finishes up with he application. My wife started the application in August, we are now almost done with September moving into October in the next 4 days, I would like to know why hasn't the Manager given us any feedback? Times are tough and we need feedback as to what the outcome was before we make our next move, we thought seeing that we are with Std Bank let us give them a try first seeing that they gave us the home loan in the first place, but if this is the level of service we are receiving then we might as well try SA Home Loans as I have heard only good things from them, maybe they will give help us FASTER. very disappointing!!!
