Total Disregard for Clients

To our dismay ABSA was appointed as Executors of my Grandparents estate (they passed away within 4 months of one another). The initial quote received was exorbitant. The family was able to negotiate 60% discount from a lawyer but despite numerous requests ABSA refused to hand over the estate (small estate < R600K). My grandfather passed away in September. Since then, we have made numerous enquiries regarding the Distribution & Liquidation documents (phone calls since October) only to be told that it will be faxed to us, and then, a week ago, that there is no D&L as yet, as ABSA still awaits the Letter of Appointment from the Master of the High Court!! I have sent emails to Mary, Gerrie, and Marius on Wednesday 23 January 2013 (x2) Friday 25 January (x2). It has been 5 days and they have failed to acknowledge or respond to my emails. The emotional exhaustion of dealing with the loss of our grandparents would have been more bearable If ABSA was as persistent in responding to our correspondence as they are in charging fees. Why they insist on acting as Executors for an Estate they obviously deem to be irrelevant, is beyond any comprehension.
