I am not happy with Absa's policy on foreign nationals. I've tried to withdraw cash from my account today, only to be told that i can't access funds from my Absa Account because my work permit had expired, that i understood, but after providing proof from the Department of Home Affairs that i've applied for an extension and the department is still busy with it, Absa still couldn't let me access my money that i worked so hard for.

I felt that if they really valued their clients, despite of their nationality, then they should be considerate enough to accept written proof from the South African Department of Home Affairs that one indeed is awaiting renewal of their work permit. Should my accounts be in arrears because my permit has expired?

For the record i applied for the renewal in June 2013 and my permit only expired 30 August 2013 so definitely you can not blame me for lack of planning.

I wonder if Absa will understand that i couldn't pay my monthly installment on their credit card because they are holding my funds "hostage"

I feel this policy from Absa is!!!
