My husband has had his Nissan Navara now for the past 3 years. It was insured through Hollard when he purchased the vehicle and when we got married last year, we merged our insurance through Indequity. For the past 3years his repayment monthly was exactly the same.
THIS MONTH we had a DEBIT ORDER of R1300 extra. We were shocked. Didnt know what the situation is or what the reason for this increase is. He immediately contacted Absa vehicle and asset finance where a lady at the call center informed him that ABSA INSURED HIS VEHICLE ON BEHALF OF HIM...!!!??? We didnt sign any papers, we didnt give any consent and we sure as werent informed about this extra additional cost... He then asked this lady how can Absa just do this, whereby she LAUGHED and replied she doesnt know but they did it... UNACCEPTABLE... just cause they are a financial institution and have the details of his bank account they can authorise a debit order for them??? this is absolute and after this report, this sure will go to the consumer board whereby i WILL lay a complaint against Absa for using secure information without consent for their benefit... STAY AWAY FROM ABSA-!!!
