Today I discovered with a shock that not only did my motor finance debit order not go off this month but the reason for it is because my debit order was increased with a couple hundred rands as Absa increased my debit order without even informing or consulting me. I have had my own insurance from day one of purchasing my vehicle, I have never skipped a payment or payed late but yet Absa decided to treat me like a criminal and loaded unwanted vehicle insurance to my account because they say people buy cars and cancel their insurance afterwards. I have never given Absa any reason to doubt me. I find this absolutely shocking and I want to know where does this leave me the consumer when a bank has the right to take money without the account holders permission. I have been a Absa customer for 17 years but this is where it ends because I refuse to trust a bank I can't trust. Absa is not the most popular bank around because of the fact that they don't go the extra mile and other banks always offer better deals but this really does take the cake and will most definitely chase many clients elsewhere. Absa you have broken my trust, please fix this mess and clear my name.
