Employment Verification Delay

I am very unhappy with the bank's ability to keep it's customers on the loop on the outcome of the application. I was pre-approved for a loan and credit card online, I then went to the branch with the required documentation. The consultant Lawrence Ngobeni was very helpful and explained everything to me including that the money could be available in 24 hours. I called today to find out that apparently they can't get hold of my HR dept. I was told to call my branch and give them the number for confirmation, I did that and called back again and was still told they can't get hold of HR which I find to be unlikely during working hours. No one called me back to let me know of the outcome. I find myself having to call them back 4 to 5 times throughout the day. I'm not impressed at all and I am moving on to another credit provider. I see some people have things verified and funds deposited with a couple of hours. I just don't see why I have to be kept in waiting just because HR won't answer their phones... which is unlikely.
