Assessment failed

I am a foreigner currently residing in South Africa since 2009. I started working for an Accounting firm in Makhado last year April and I have been working there since on a five year contract. I applied for a personal loan with African bank early last month. I submitted all the documents that they required and I was even made to sign a contract and told that the money would be deposited into my account as soon as the assessment was done. After a week I was called by a consultant from African bank only to tell me that I had failed the assessment, I asked why I failed the assessment but the consultant did not seem to have an answer at all for my question. The consultant later told me that he would follow it up and then get back to me regarding my failed assessment, until this very day I have been waiting for that call that never came through. I cannot jump into conclusion and assume that the reason is because I am a foreigner because I work with a colleague of mine whose also a foreigner and has a loan with African bank.
