I am opening up a Barclays offshore account. The application requires a certified copy of my ID to be attached. Barclays has a specific wording which they would like included under the copy of my ID when certified, this states that "having seen the individual and the ID document at the same time, I certify this is a true copy and the photograph is a reasonable likeness"
The personnel at the Prospecton branch flatly refused to include the desired wording when they certified the copy despite me explaining the logic behind it. "This is the way we do it here and that's that" was their comment.
There were four senior members of the branch in one office at the same time and not one bothered to take the trouble to understand the request.
I don't think that my request nor Barclays' requirement is unreasonable and it would not have taken an extra minute to complete.
I have been an ABSA client for close on 18 years and never have I experienced such a terrible attitude from a branch. Judging from their attitude it would appear as if this branch is used to "dump" personnel who don't make it anywhere else.
