I went to Absa on the 11th of Jan 2013, to apply for a personal loan. The lady that helped me was very professional and we did the application. She then mentioned that she must first send my application to the department and this will take up to a week. I have been banking with Absa for over 20 years. I could not understand why it would take so long, considering i could get a loan over the phone in 48 hours. I emailed her in a weeks time, she informed me that she is still waiting for the department. I went into the bank the next day, saturday the 19th to go talk to her. I then spoke to the branch manager and explained the situation. They both assured me that they will get back to me. On Tuesday afternoon i received an email stating that its been cleared by the department and must just go to the credit manager for approval and this will take 8 hours. So again i waited. This morning, Thursday the 24th, the branch manager contacted me and apologise for only getting back to me now. BUT... They are still awaiting aproval from the credit manager. I cannot believe that it takes almost 2 weeks for a loan to be approved!!! Its crazy!!!
