I recently had to try and contact the ABSA house owners insurance department in Johannesburg to submit a claim for a burst geyser at my house. First I tried to find a contact number the old fashioned way via the telephone book. No listing. I then went to the web site and searched under the insurance section. No listing. The number listed there is for ABSA idirect insurance which is for vehicles and householders insurance not for HOUSEOWNERS insurance (i.e. the building) I then phoned my local branch and after being passed from pillar to post eventually the 4th person I spoke to gave me the contact number. Ridiculous!
