I have an access bond with FNB - for the past 11years I have never missed a payment. Previously it was with NBS but FNB bought NBS out. My bond is almost paid up and I have been paying more than the required amount. I have decided to renovate my place and went to apply for an extension loan from my access bond to be told that my access bond was cancelled. When I queried it I was told that I was in arrears twice. Puzzled I asked when? It transpires that because I paid by interent and instead of 2x not being on the 1st but going through on the 3rd I am penalised. But the joke is I was told that I could apply for a loan on the amount I OVERPAID to date. How is this for winning business confidence!!! I advise anyone wanting to get a bond with FNB to seriously consider whether you are getting the best deal with such inflexibility!
