My car has been financed through Absa since 2010 and I've been happily paying my about R3500 a month to them since I got the car. My car (and previous cars) have always been insured through Mutual & Federal. Anyway, in April/May I travelled overseas and obviously missed the calls from Absa informing me that they were going to take out car insurance on my behalf through themselves. When I got back and noticed shortly afterwards that an extra R762 was taken off my account for this insurance I never signed up for, I phoned Absa and they informed me that if I send proof that I had car insurance already they would refund me...
Months later after phoning, emailing, faxing and speaking to a handful of useless people, not only was my money not refunded but ANOTHER R762 was taken off my account!!! Since when is it legal to just take out a policy and money from someone without their consent? I have bills to pay and this is very distressing for me.
I have a baby and I work so getting into a bank for me is not easy but I finally went in this week and spoke to a lady who informed me that the money will (apparently) be in my account in 6-9 working days.
Was 3 months not long enough!?
