My Husband and myself are both platinum clients at First National Bank, we also have a platinum credit card and are paying off our car through FNB. So when we applied for a home loan via OOBA bond origination (and was preapproved for a amount bigger than what we appied for) big was our surprise and disappointment when our own bank did not approve us, not even for a smaller amount or a certain percentage, they just declined and said we could not afford it, this after ABSA and Standard bank immediately approved our loan.
Our consultant at OOBA immediately challenged them and said that we definitely qualify on affordability, but they wouldn't budge.
I have only always spoken good things of FNB and because of me i can name at least 3 people that took their accounts over to FNB.
I really had the wind knocked out of my sails, feels like total break in trust and loyalty (I have been with them for 20 years, paid my studentloan off via them, my first car, etc)
Don't know if i will ever view them the same way, what a pitty FNB :-(
Worst part is I dont think that this would even make them care.
