How Can't We Help You (You Mean FNB)

I have been banking with FNB for a very long time, I have just fallen behind in some debts so i decide to go and take out a personal loan through my bank FNB, Before i am asked how much i need they do a credit check and tell me i do not qualify due to affordability. They said its because i missed a payment somewhere along the line. I needed the loan to reconcile my accounts but i just got turned away. I feel as if i can't trust my bank as they are not willing to put there trust in me. How can they say declined due to affordability when i have not even told them the amount i need loaned to me. I am now stuck in a position i feel i can't get out of because my bank won't help me with a small loan of R5000-00. I know friends of mine that earn less money than i do that have received loans from other banks of that amount if not more.
