For the past few months I have been struggling to keep track with my balance in my account due to incorrect / delayed Sms notifications from Absa. Apparently this is caused by the new chip card from Absa, as I was told by Kgomotso from their Customer care line. She unfortunately did not have a solution at the time of my call and said I must put in a complaint. It is very difficult to monitor your balance when the notification you receive is displaying incorrect information. For ex: My balance on my last Sms notification reads I have R5000 in my account currently, I draw R500 at the atm and should then receive a notification that R500 was withdrawn and my balance should be R4490 odd, whatever the transaction fee. Instead I receive a notification that my balance is R3850. Now I have to memorize what I have spent in the last few days and try and calculate if my balance is in actual fact correct. I swipe my card almost every day, a few times, and this Sms notifications from Absa is not working, it's making my life!
It's difficult to budget with incorrect figures and delayed notifications. If this does not work properly soon, I will leave Absa for a better solution. Rick
