Close credit card account

I have tried several times to have this account closed. I have already cut the card into a million pieces but for reasons known only to absa, several attempts to ensure the balance was R0 seems to get thwarted each time as the balance never changes even when the available balance shows a balance of R38000, my limit. I would like to close this credit card and if absa insists on keeping it open, i will ignore each from now on and will not take any responsibility for what happens in the account.
