I called the Standard Bank Credit Card Div. to advise of my travel dates to the USA, one month prior to my departure and was advised that all was in order. I arranged this meticulously, as I was going to use only this card whilst there for precautionary reason & ensured that there were sufficient funds therein. Tried to use my credit card on the 2nd day that I arrived in the US and it was declined, thinking it was just a once off occurrence, I tried it again and it was declined once again. This time, I received an SMS to contact the division. Why should I waste my money on a call to you, when I had already informed you of my travel plans/use of my credit card overseas!!! I tried the card numerous times thereafter, on most occasions it was declined and once or twice it worked. Called Standard Bank on Fri &spoke to Melissa - got some story about there being 'insufficient funds' - strange, as I currently still have a credit balance in my a/c. 'Maybe it was the 'international connection'... Funny though that my Nedbank card worked without ONE glitch - must be the BETTER bank!! Still waiting for Isaac Kekana (Customer service manager) to call me as per Melissa.. HAH!
