Charged without notification

So, i upgraded to a platinum card with the main "pull factor" being the fact that we can access the slow lounge while waiting at the airport. Was at ORT the other day and decided to try it out. Lady asked for boarding pass and card and without a word, i was told to go ahead.

Checking my statement today, i see a debit of R250. Called the bank and they say that now "qualifying spend" on the card must be 5K... seriously and how on earth am i supposed to have this information oh hand?? The agent said that they are looking at ways for clients to 1st check if they qualify etc in the future...

BUT, that's not good enough! What are you doing in the meantime FNB? Just charging people without them even knowing. I would have at least expected the lady swiping my card to inform me if I had / or had not met criteria and been GIVEN THE OPTION of being charged or not.

To top it all off, you don't even send an in contact sms to say i've been debited. Sneaky sneaky!! and totally disgusting. I've asked for a reversal of that payment. Until you have a way of people checking their status 1st, you should at least have the decency to give them a choice before just debiting their account.
