I am an FNB platinum card holder and I visited Capetown International Airport Slow lounge on 17/06/2013. Prior to entering the facility (my husband and myself) asked how many visits I was allowed and was informed at the reception area 4 visits off peak. I was shocked this morning to find that R500 had been charged to my account for using the facility. I called the customer service line (call ref RT1306199474) and was informed that there is a qualifying criteria for use of this lounge. My main concern was that I was not informed by FNB prior and I even asked before entering the lounge and this was not communicated to me. Why should I all of a sudden be charged without my consent. Any person would surely want to know if sitting in a slow lounge for less than an hour would cost R500.I am a foreign national and have had previous bad encounters with FNB (decline in home loan because I am a foreign national which Standard bank approved) this will be the last straw definately closing off that account.
