One does not simply cancel one's insurance

I would have thought it a fairly simple process to cancel my insurance. I'm an adult, I'm perfectly capable of making my own financial decisions, and yet, when I said the words "I'd like to cancel my policy" I was first subjected to an inquisition as to why, then told it was better to keep the policy, then the advisor wanted to do comparisons to see if we can't "save me money" (Keep me as a client), all this, while I repeatedly tell the "advisor" that I'm not interested, and all I want to do is cancel my policy. Surely I should be able to skip the retention song and dance in the guise of "financial advice"? Retention advisors are paid on how well they retain clients, so their "advice" is obviously to remain a loyal, paying customer. Apparently when an adult makes the decision to cancel their policy, they have to run it by Outsurance's retention gauntlet... um department first, and yes I'm being overly dramatic, but it almost feels as if one has to ask permission to cancel!!

And after all that, I was told she couldn't change my policy, because my ID is linked to my gf's policy and she's a staff member. I was supposed to be contacted later to complete the cancellation, but never was
