On 14 April I cancelled my card due to an ATM transaction not initiated by me after receiving a sms. On further investigation it was apparent that several thousands of rands were drawn from my card at ATM's in the same area for months prior to this transaction for which I did NOT get a sms. I was told that I should have checked my statements regularly for which I at fault BUT I still requested the evidence that the sms's were send as it was confirmed that they did, a list of transactions paid back into my card as well as an enquiry of several transactions that were done for the same amount (4 in total) for which one was reversed. To date I have not received feedback from FNB explaining the latter. In the meantime I received a new card which I only used twice since I received it and the same continued aka same area, amounts and location - and you guessed it - no sms's received except for the 2 transactions which I am aware of. Very convenient if you ask me. The question begs - how is this possible??? I subsequently cancelled my card and account and would never ever want to be associated with it again if this is timely investigation and customer service.
