On reading Standard Bank's advert to receive up to 10% back on using my Debit card I made the natural assumption that this would apply to every utilization of the card (on application I was not informed by the telephonist that the benefit applied only to grocery purchases).
However, I now discover that it applies ONLY TO GROCERY purchases. The press advert does say "groceries" but fails to clarify that it does not apply to account payments, cash withdrawals etc. as is the case with EBucks. Therefore only a very large family would purchase enough groceries to pay Standard's monthly/annual subscription for this "benefit".
Within 7 days I cancelled my subscription as my "savings" would be far less than any benefit I would accumulate. I will stick with EBucks as they pay benefits on every transaction. I keenly await a reply to my accusation of misleading/incomplete advertising and acceptance of my cancellation.
